A little bit more about me…

I am a first generation College student, who had worked multiple jobs to pay my way through University– due to having no financial support for my education. I can proudly say I am going to graduate from OU without taking any student loans.

  • During my freshman year at OU, I worked for the Campuses Room and Board Program while also maintaining my job as a sales lead at MetroShoe Warehouse.

My spring semester I joined the Gaylord Media Practicum, where I began writing feature stories for the College’s monthly newsletter.

  • My sophomore year I was able to get more involved in my sorority. I served as the PR Assistant, helping with event-planning and social media strategy.

I also became web-trained certified for Adobe CMS and continued writing for Gaylord Media.

The summer after my sophomore year I had an internship at the Kaiser Family Foundation where I worked at Guthrie Green. I served on both the programming and marketing sides of the non-profit organization.

  • My junior year I became the Web-Lead for Gaylord Media and took over Gaylord’s website. I also started my new job as a Communications Assistant in the Dean’s Office of Gaylord.

In September, I started The Campus Edit– my own fashion magazine, alongside one of my peers.

In January, I traveled to Iowa with Gaylord News to cover the Iowa Caucuses for the pre-election season.

After our trip to Iowa, I flew to Washington D.C. to spend my spring semester covering Oklahoma politics with Gaylord News.

During my Internship I also traveled to New York City for Fashion Week and produced multiple stories about Oklahoma creatives in the fashion industry. I went to NYC a second time to join my professor, Mike Boettcher, for the premiere of the “An American Bombing: The Road to April 19th,” a documentary with HBO about the Oklahoma City 1995 Bombing.

  • I have successfully ran my fashion magazine for over a year now, and now oversee a team of 25.

I have continued reporting for Gaylord News as well as pursued stories of personal interest.

I still work as a Communications Assistant for Gaylord College and a sales-lead for MetroShoe Warehouse.

I am now trained in HTML Code, Hootsuite, WordPress, Adobe Programs, FinalCut Pro and RStudio.

  • After graduation I will be traveling to Australia with the Campus Consortium Reporting Fellow of the Pulitzer Center, to cover the revitalization of endangered languages in the Outback.
